Source Code Guidelines
By following these basic guidelines, we can ensure that this site is consistent, safe and simple for all users. Please review the following before posting any source code.
Be responsible.
Use your better judgment. As a member of this community, you alone are responsible for the content that you post on this site and any consequences thereof. Always err on the side of caution.
Do not post any source code that contains information that could be used to identify a specific organization or individual. Be careful to review the source code that you post for comments or other source code elements (namespaces, class names, etc.) that contain potentially identifying information. Not only could this get us into legal trouble, but it could also get you fired. Posts that contain information that could potentially reveal the identity of a specific organization or individual may be redacted or removed from the site altogether.
Categorize your posts.
Categories make the content that you post more visible and this site easier to use overall. Categories appear at the bottom of each post (next to the little file folder) and within the menu at the top of each page. When posting source code, at the very least, please categorize your post by development language (C#, Ruby, Java, PHP, whatever…) or platform. In order to keep this site as consistent as possible, please choose from the list of existing categories before creating your own.
